Changelog

What's new in PhasmaStrap.

Every release, newest first. The same notes show on the News page inside the app.

2.17.9 Latest

  • Get help on Discord: the support links now point to the PhasmaStrap Discord server instead of GitHub issues.
  • PhasmaStrap counts how often features are used (a clip saved, a preset shared or imported, low-end mode turned on) so the project knows what people actually use. Counts only, never what was in them, and all of it stops when you turn off "Enable sending of analytics".

2.17.8

  • Statistics and crash reports now go to PhasmaStrap's own server instead of the upstream Bloxstrap project's. They are still anonymous, still off when you turn off "Enable sending of analytics", and the privacy page at phasmastrap.com/privacy says exactly what is sent.

2.17.7

  • Updates and the News page now come from PhasmaStrap's own server (api.phasmastrap.com) instead of GitHub's, which only allows 60 requests an hour per IP address - with a few people on one network, update checks used to quietly fail. If the server is down, PhasmaStrap asks GitHub like before. Downloads still come from GitHub.

2.17.6

  • Choose what double-clicking the tray icon does while Roblox is running (PhasmaStrap › Startup & updates): open settings (the default), bring Roblox to the front, open the tray menu, take a screenshot, save an instant replay, show server details, copy the invite link or clean RAM.

2.17.5

  • Fixed: logs could miss their last lines when PhasmaStrap closed right after something happened (like an update), which made problems hard to track down.

2.17.4

  • Fixed: auto-update often didn't update.
    • It skipped the update whenever another PhasmaStrap was running (the tray icon, the settings window or a game), which is most of the time.
    • The new version couldn't replace the installed one while it was running, and gave up silently. It now swaps it in anyway.
    • A failed or cut-off download was kept and retried forever. Downloads are now checked against GitHub's size and checksum.
    • If an update still fails, you now get a message instead of nothing.

2.17.3

  • Fixed: "FastFlag profile is not active" when it was. PhasmaStrap now checks the flags file the open Roblox actually started with, instead of a note that could go stale when Roblox was still closing during a launch.
  • Fixed: the proxy said everything was patched when Roblox wasn't using it.
    • The status now says whether Roblox really connected through the proxy, and tells you to restart Roblox when it was opened before its certificate bundle was patched.
    • Opening the Networking page no longer quietly creates a new certificate.
    • Every PhasmaStrap process picks up a new certificate instead of signing with an old one.
    • The "Roblox rejected the proxy certificate" notification only says "re-added" when it re-added something.
    • Fixed: the proxy would have stopped working in its certificate's second year.

2.17.2

  • Fixed: the settings window couldn't be resized after it reopened maximized and was then made smaller.
  • Includes 2.17.1: monitors show their real names in the in-game resolution settings.

2.17.1

  • Monitors show their real names in the in-game resolution settings (e.g. "1. 25G3ZM · 1920x1080 @ 240Hz · main") instead of "Generic PnP Monitor", numbered like Windows' display settings.

2.17.0

Overlays

  • Fixed: the overlay sometimes didn't show up. With Instant Replay on, the replay recorder and the overlay both asked Windows to capture the screen, and a process only gets one per monitor - whichever came second failed. The overlay now uses the recorder's picture instead, and the FPS counter and crosshair don't need a screen capture at all any more.
  • FPS is now the game's real frame rate - the frames the game actually shows, not how often the overlay redrew itself. (It can't read higher than your monitor's refresh rate.)
  • Customise the HUD (Rendering › Overlays › HUD look and position): position (any corner or the middle of the top or bottom), distance from the edges, background opacity (down to no background), colours, size, rounded corners, one-line layout, labels on or off, text shadow - with a live preview.

Instant Replay and screenshots

  • Clips up to 5 minutes.
  • Exact resolution and frame rate: 1080p always records 1920 × 1080 (even in a smaller window), and the frame rate you pick is the clip's real frame rate. 1440p added.
  • Your microphone, unprocessed: no noise suppression or other Windows processing, and you can pick which microphone to record.
  • Thumbnails for saved clips, and the lists update by themselves when a new clip or screenshot is saved.
  • Captures window: every screenshot and clip in one place, with search, filters (game, date, type), sorting and rename.
  • Screenshot an area: optionally, the screenshot hotkey freezes the game and you drag over the part you want.
  • Edit button on the "Screenshot saved" and "Replay saved" notifications.
  • Make GIFs from screenshots (screenshot editor › Make GIF): zoom, pan, or a slideshow of several screenshots.
  • The Capture page is split into tabs: Screenshots, Instant Replay and Storage.
  • Fixed: small or cropped screenshots saved from the editor came out black.
  • With graphics card encoding, the "takes a few seconds" notification is gone - clips save instantly.

Other fixes

  • In-game resolution (Rendering › Performance): the monitor and resolution lists work again, and you can give a game its own resolution.
  • Discord › RPC Advanced has settings now: join button type, custom text per game, Roblox Studio on your profile and translation.
  • The settings window reopens at the size and place you left it, maximized if it was.
  • The News page shows what changed - including this list.

2.16.1

  • Private server filters (Servers > Private servers): search by game, server name or owner's username; pick an owner (your friends are listed first, or "Friends only"); pick a game; show yours / shared; filter by status (can join now, inactive, ending within 30 days); sort by game, owner or ending soonest.
  • Recently played shows place names: games made of several places (like Blade Ball's lobby, pro server, trade plaza...) now read "Blade Ball · Pro Server" instead of the same name with different playtimes. Play starts from the game's start place.

2.15.0

Capture

  • Screenshot editor - every screenshot in the gallery gets an Edit button: crop, pen, arrow, box, ellipse, text, pixelate (hide names/chat), undo/redo, copy, save or save as copy.
  • Clip editor for Instant Replay clips - trim on a thumbnail timeline, crop, slow motion / fast forward (0.25x-4x), save a frame as a screenshot, save as copy or replace.
  • Instant Replay now has separate frame rate (15 up to 240 fps) and resolution (native / 1080p / 720p / 480p) settings. Native means the game's real resolution - a 1080p game is no longer recorded at 1600x900. Faster capture path while Roblox is the active window, compressed rolling buffer (native 1080p no longer needs gigabytes of RAM), clips keep real timing, hardware encoder when available. The Capture page shows what your settings cost in RAM and disk.
  • Instant Replay clips actually save now (two Media Foundation binding defects fixed), and screenshot / replay toasts open the file when clicked.

Hotkeys

  • Binding rebuilt: click the button, press the key or combination, Esc cancels and keeps the old hotkey. PrintScreen, Win / Alt combinations and single keys all work.
  • In game, a hotkey fires even while you hold other keys (Shift to sprint, Ctrl to crouch). Combinations and F-keys are not passed on to the game; plain typing keys still type in chat and only fire while Roblox is the active window.

Appearance

  • Backgrounds redone: animated GIFs are composited properly (optimised GIFs no longer flicker or show broken frames), decoding is off the UI thread and cached, and pictures are kept in a gallery with thumbnails. Background changes save straight away.
  • Custom colour themes can now change the accent colour, text colours, the drifting background glow and a sidebar panel, with opacity sliders where transparency matters.

FastFlags

  • Per-place presets: an Edit flags button per preset, clearer create buttons with hover explanations, and "only where assigned" honoured by both create buttons.
  • Presets only take effect when Roblox starts, so joining from inside the Roblox app or following a friend can't apply one. You now get a notification when that happens - click it to restart into the same server with the preset. Nothing restarts on its own. An optional (off by default) setting closes an already running Roblox when a browser Play needs a different preset.

Fixes

  • The tray menu and everything that depends on knowing you're in a game (presence, replay, overlays) no longer loses track after a server switch. Roblox can log the new server before the old one's disconnect, which used to leave PhasmaStrap thinking you'd left.
  • Discord presence shows as "Playing PhasmaStrap" with the logo, also while idling in the Roblox app; toggle under Integrations.
  • Home page: launch by link (place, private server and share links) with a list of the experience's subplaces; History tab scrolls with the wheel.
  • Notifications redesigned and positioned against the live monitor (no more off-screen toasts in fullscreen games).
  • Settings search rebuilt; the sidebar is shorter (History, Game Chat, Extensions and Channel moved into tabs); many layout and performance fixes across the settings window.

2.11.4

A heavily expanded fork of Bloxstrap: server matchmaking, an expanded FastFlags panel, an NVIDIA driver profile panel, GPU overlays (RiShade shader post-processing, anti-aliasing, frame generation - all sharing one compositor), an in-game chat overlay, classic client hosting, a searchable/pinnable settings nav, Save & Launch and Restart buttons in the settings window, and a large number of smaller features. See the README for the full list.
